Nobska Point Light, in Woods Hole, Massachusetts was built in 1876, and is a picture-perfect setting for newlyweds. This magnificent lighthouse is still a working Coast Guard station and retains the original 1888 fourth-order Fresnel lens - the only one left on Cape Cod. On a windy but warm summer afternoon I sat on a nearby bench overlooking Vineyard Sound. The sailboats were out and the car ferry was making its way across to Martha's Vineyard. I asked a fisherman perched on a rock below me how the day was going. “Nothing yet,” he replied with a smile. Making my way back up to the lighthouse I was delighted to observe the tower casting its shadow onto the keeper’s house, providing a lovely scene to capture in the pages of my sketchbook.
